Finland, one of the Scandinavian countries celebrates her Independence Anniversary today the 6th of December, 2012. The anniversary is being celebrated today for the 95th time since the declaration of independence from Russia was made public on this date in 1917.
There is a public holiday in Finland today and the public holiday is traditionally celebrated by placing a garland on the graves of war heroes, by remembering the veterans, and by a torch parade organised by university students.
Afroscandic joins the government of Finland and millions of Finnish citizens in celebrating this memorable day. The President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, will also host his first annual ball for the members of parliament and other socialites at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki.
Finland was a former colony of Russia but today Finland is ranked as one of the best countries to live on earth.
