Sweden has many great qualities that causes people from around the world to gravitate towards moving there. However many people have no clue how to move to Sweden, it is quite simple really. If you are going to Sweden for work you will first need to receive a job offer from a Sweden based employer. Just like the rest of the world Sweden has suffered slightly from the recent economic downturn, however there are still many skill based jobs available. Engineers, electricians, doctors, chefs, and technology based jobs are still in high demand for new hires. To live and work in Sweden you will need a written offer of employment which includes all of the details of the job listed clearly including pay, length of employment and the specific conditions that you will be expected to work under. Once you have this documentation with the required signatures you can then apply for a work permit, this can be done online to improve efficiency. If you plan on working in Sweden for more than three months you will also need to file for a residence permit.
The Swedish Migration Board or the consulate you submitted your application to will contact you once your work permit is approved, you will need an up to date and current passport as the work permit will be stamped directly into your passport. If you plan on studying in Sweden for three months or longer you will also need to obtain a residence permit from Swedish immigration before you are able to enter the country. If you are from a country that is part of the European Union or European Economic Area you have the right to reside in Sweden for three months or longer if you choose so without the need for a residence permit, however you will be required to register with the Swedish Migration Board within three months of entering Sweden.
