The Nordic Countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden jointly established a Research Institute on Africa providing opportunities of research and support on modern Africa.
Results of researches done here are meant for use by Politicians, Policy makers, Media practitioners, Students etc. the Institute is based in Uppsala, Sweden.
The major areas of focus of the Institute are among others:
1. Travel scholarship program: this entails sponsorships for up to 30 Researchers from the Nordic Countries for short time research trips to Africa and on Africa.
2. Study Scholarship Program: this is designed for Nordic Students, Authors, Journalists etc to spend 1 month in Uppsala using the facility and materials.
3. Scholarship Program for Phd Students: this is designed for Phd Students to use the Facility for 1 to 2 months for their researches.
4. The Guests Scholarship Program is designed for African Researchers to use the same Facilty for between 2 and 3 months at no cost.
This Institute provides a Research exchange cooperation for Nordic and African Scholars with a Chair endowed in Honour of a renowned African Professor – Claude Ake.
