On Afroscandic guest spot, Madagascar former president, Mr. Marc Ravalomanana, shared his post-presidency experience and his ambition to run for president in 2018. Madagascar is a huge island nation off the southeast coast of Africa. It’s the fourth largest island in the world.
The country has the size of France and is located 400 kilometers from Mozambique. Madagascar is a former French colony that gained its political independence in 1960 and it has about 23 million inhabitants.
The former president, Mr. Marc Ravalomanana was elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. Mr. Marc Ravalomanana was brutally overthrown by a military coup in 2009 and forced into exile in South Africa.
His departure drew condemnation from the international community and a reduction of financial support to the new government.
When the president after more than five years returned to his country, the military arrested him and later released him. He is now preparing to run for president in 2018.
During the 2017 CPH:DOX , a personal documentary film about the coup and the president quest to return to his country was screened and was Nominated for F:ACT AWARD. The documentary film is titled ” RETURN OF A PRESIDENT”.
