The best people that could make an evaluation of Denmark’s standard of living are probably those that are not Danes. Denmark is a very small land with a giant heart. It is a land where real democracy is practiced to the core. It is a land of opportunities. The citizens of the land are always duly considered when decisions are to be made in the government house.
In the area of health, citizens can be rest assured of good health care system. One does not need to be afraid of hospital bill when one needs to visit a physician. The provision of this health care system also applies to anyone who is living legally in Denmark. The money that is used to finance the health sector is derived from the tax that is paid into the government purse by the citizens.
Although many argued that the tax rate in Denmark is higher than other Scandinavian countries and is currently being discussed among many. But on the other hand, some citizens believe that the advantages of high tax rate are far better than the disadvantages. Through the high tax rate, the less privileged, the handicapped and many other social amenities are adequately provided in the country. Exercise duties on tobacco and alcohol products are high in order to discourage people from acquiring those products. The roads of Denmark are built in such a way that encourages the people of the land to ride on bicycles rather than taking cars and busses.
When it comes to drugs prescription and administration, there is a thorough drug control in the country and production of drugs are controlled by the government to discourage production of drugs only for the sole purpose of making money. Before one can purchase medicine from the pharmaceutical store, there must be a written prescription from a doctor in most cases except for very few medicines that could be bought without doctor’s prescription.
In the area of education, it is highly subsidized by the government to encourage its citizens to get education without any tuition fees so as to increase the work force of the land.
The land of Denmark is a blessed land because one does not have to be rich before one can live well. The poor, the sick, the old and young have equal opportunities even the aliens.
