No one would ever believe that the 20 years old young man, who left Egypt with ten English pounds starting his career as a newspaper seller and a dishwasher, would become after years, the Senior Advisor for the International Association for University Presidents, knight of Dannebrog of Denmark, the Founder and president of Helnan International Hotels among others.
Please enjoy the interview below :
Her Majesty Queen Margrette II of Denmark signed an official Royal decree to bestow on Enan Galaly, one of the highest titles in Denmark, “Knight of Dannebrog“. This honor is considered by the country as an appreciation for his role and efforts in exerting to serve and enhance locally and internationally the “Royal Danish Kingdom” prestige and significance.
Enan Galaly travelled to Vienna, Austria, where he sold newspaper and lived on the streets, and then made his way to Denmark, where he washed dishes to earn meals. From such inauspicious beginning, he went on to build an international hotel chain and become an influential world citizen.
Galaly had neither money, experience nor even an education therefore; he had to depend on his mind, and his initiative and hard work when deciding to wash dishes for the purpose of getting a meal in the hotel and restaurant industry.
Then he took up different jobs in hotels and restaurants to increase his business experience. He joined the hotel and restaurant school in Denmark and developed his knowledge by taking special studies in economics at the school of commerce and a degree from The Hotel and Restaurant School. After several years in Denmark, he became a Danish citizen.
Soon, he made his way up the ladder of the hospitality industry by volunteering for jobs in his spare time besides being a management trainee in different positions. Then, he joined The Hvide Hus Hotel in Aalborg, as an Assistant General Manager, when he was still in his early twenties.
A few years later he was appointed as General Manager of Hvide Hus Hotel in Aalborg when he was in his late twenties, then attained a top position as managing director and board member of the Hvide Hus Hotel Chain (Eight Hotels, Concert House and Management Corporation) by the time he was only thirty.
Recently, and after so many years, Enan Galaly has acquired Hvide Hus hotels in Koge and Aalborg, that one day he was their managing director.
Despite all these achievements, Enan Galaly likes to be called by his first name when dealing with people because he has not forgotten that he started at the bottom in the hotel industry and he is always ready to pay attention to his employees needs.
Although Enan himself is a successful, well-known personality, he rejects and avoids the word “Success” he has his own philosophy towards Success, Failure, and Experience.
His point of view is that such a word leads to arrogance or madness not greatness.
He also does not admit to the word “failure”. For him each and every piece of work or effort exerted by the human being, through which he gains knowledge and experience, will definitely assist him during his life, even if he has not achieved the goals required by his experience.
Also he considers “Experience” the most powerful value owned by any human being, even stronger than the financial power, as the human being preserves such experience forever and never loses it.
Enan believes that we should treat all the employees with respect as if they were all top Managers.
Enan is a surgeon, seeking sick hotels that can be treated by simple operations and medication.
Enan Galaly has been for many years and still is today, a subject for media interest about issues that concern local development and international relations in various fields.
The Media refer to Galaly now by different titles “The Hotels Tycoon”, “The Hotel’s King” and” The most famous dishwasher”.
Afroscandic admires Enan Galaly’s spirit of enterprise, creativity, intellectual capacity and commitment to excellence. He is an inspiration to young people everywhere and we wish him more years in action and in successes.
